The Town of Fraser, CO is seeking applicants for the position of Town Manager. An interim manager has been hired to provide continuity following the previous manager’s 16-year tenure. The Town seeks a manager who manages in a style that will enable and further develop an energetic, experienced staff. That manager will have the experience to engage the community while steering elected leaders through several high-priority community planning processes. The manager serves under the direction of the Mayor and six board trustees. Fraser’s FY 2021 Budget of $13.3 million supports 26 FTEs.

Founded in 1871, incorporated in 1953, the Town of Fraser, Colorado, with a population of 1,717, has a seasonal visitor population approaching 3,000 when all of the roughly 325 short term rental and lodging units are filled. Located high in the Rocky Mountains between a popular ski resort and Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the nation’s most visited, Fraser is near the top of a historic valley at an elevation of 8,573’. Fraser, and Grand County, where it is located, each experience the advantages of being rich in beautiful landscapes and natural resources that provide much-loved recreation opportunities that attract a dedicated visitor base. That proximity also provides its risk. Grand County has experienced catastrophic wildfires due to drought and has perennially challenging relationships with Front Range water providers who divert a lot of the water in the basin. Being at the headwaters of the Fraser River at the upper reaches of the Colorado River basin, Fraser and Grand County are also at the headgate to a lot of water policy.

Success for the new Town Manager will stem from a rich background in planning, economic development and resource management. This Town Manager will demonstrate an ability to construct community trust and build alignment towards the Town’s goals through effective and empowering management of Town staff and stakeholders accompanied with sense of humor. This individual will thrive in this position with a rooted enthusiasm for the outdoors, whether the landscape is green or white. Accountability, honesty, trust and transparency are essential values for the Fraser Town Manager.

Minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university with major course work in public administration or a related field. A minimum of five years of experience in the field of public administration is required. An advanced degree in a related field is strongly preferred. The salary range for this position is $$119,000 – $178,534, and dependent on experience and qualifications.
