LEAD A GROWING COMMUNITY: THE POSITION
Firestone is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Town Manager
and help shape the community’S next chapter.

Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Town Manager serves as the Town’s chief
executive and administrative officer, overseeing municipal operations and translating Board
priorities into action. The Manager leads a talented organization dedicated to delivering
responsive, high-quality services while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability,
innovation, and operational excellence.

The Town Manager serves as a trusted advisor to the Board and a key connection among
elected officials, employees, residents, businesses, regional partners, and community
stakeholders. Success in this role will require thoughtful leadership, strong communication,
sound judgment, and the ability to build relationships across the community and region.
Firestone operates under the council-manager form of government, with the elected Mayor
and Board of Trustees establishing policy and strategic direction and the Town Manager leading implementation. Together, the Board and Manager will have an opportunity to position
Firestone for sustainable growth and a vibrant future.

THE LEADER WE’RE SEEKING: THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished, forward-thinking local government executive who
combines strategic leadership with a collaborative, community-centered approach. Firestone
seeks a trusted advisor, relationship builder, and innovative problem solver who can guide the
organization through continued growth while preserving the community’s character and quality
of life.

 Experienced Municipal Leader: A seasoned local government professional with a strong
understanding of municipal operations and a proven ability to lead a growing
organization and deliver high-quality public services.
 Water Resource Expertise: A strong working knowledge of Colorado water law, water
rights, regulatory frameworks, and regional water challenges, with the ability to
navigate complex issues and advance sustainable solutions.
 Vision & Innovation: A creative problem solver who can anticipate opportunities and
challenges, develop and implement long-range strategies, and foster continuous
improvement.
 Collaborative Leadership: A unifying leader who builds strong relationships across the
organization and community while identifying opportunities for effective regional,
intergovernmental, and public-private partnerships.
 Community Commitment: A leader eager to become an active member of the Firestone
community who respects its history and character and is committed to making a
meaningful, lasting contribution.
 Strategic & Financial Acumen: A strategic, fiscally responsible, and politically astute
leader who brings sound judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to ethical and
accountable governance.

communicator who can convey complex information clearly and build trust with diverse
audiences.
 People-Centered Leadership: An equitable and decisive leader who sets clear

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration,
or a related field, plus five years of progressively responsible executive-level local government
experience. Equivalent experience in local government executive leadership may also qualify.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or
a related field.

POSITION BENEFITS: COMPETITIVE EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION
Salary: $200,000-$297,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
 Retirement: Colorado PERA 401(a) Defined Benefit Plan or approved alternative
retirement program.
 Deferred Compensation: Voluntary 457 plan for additional tax-deferred savings.

 Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and
supplemental insurance options, along with HSA/FSA programs and an EAP.
 Fitness & Recreation: Access to the Carbon Valley Recreation Center and Town fitness
facility.
 Relocation: Relocation assistance and housing-related support may be negotiated as
part of the final employment agreement.
