Chief of Police- Starting base salary: $68,000.  Rocky Ford, CO.  Population of 3850.  Bachelor’s degree in political science, criminology, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is preferred, and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement-related experience.   Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License with a good driving record; no felony convictions nor convictions of crimes of moral indecency and possess a Colorado State License as a Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer (P.O.S.T) with no active or pending disciplinary action.  Colorado State Supervision and Management Certificates are required.  Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police executive certification is desirable.  Must be able to successfully qualify to possess a firearm in accordance with Federal and/or State regulations.  Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening.  Benefits include;  FPPA retirement and death and disability plans, Empower Pensions Officer’s Plan, both are mandatory contributions, health insurance (100% city-funded), access to vision and dental, EAP services, life insurance, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, optional voluntary insurance (legal shield, short-term disability, cancer, life, and accident offered via payroll deductions.  Optional independent investment/retirement services via 457b and/or ROTH IRA Plan payroll deductions.  Successful appointed candidate must reside within the city limits of Rocky Ford.  If you are passionate about community safety, strategic leadership, and making a positive impact, consider becoming part of a dedicated dynamic team.  Visit our website to view the complete job description at www.cityofrockyfordco.gov.
