The Assistant City Administrator leads and manages the administrative and community development services of the municipality.  In the foothills of the Rocky Mountains approximately 30 miles west of Denver, the City is a thriving and bustling historic mining community in Clear Creek Canyon at 7,500 feet of elevation along four miles of Interstate 70.  The population of approximately 1,800 residents swells on a typical day by many thousands more with visitors seeking the outdoor recreation and heritage tourism that the community has to offer.

 

This professional position functions as a key part of the executive leadership team, coordinates operations with the police, public works and water facilities departments, and supervises the planning and administrative services staff.  The duties of this position include: administering a complex variety of capital projects, operational programs and grants; coordinating community engagement, business promotion, and economic development activities through extensive interaction with internal and external stakeholders; conducting research and analysis, preparing reports and providing presentations at meetings of City Council and other boards and commissions.  Occasional evening meetings and the ability to work a flexible schedule are required.  The position reports to the City Administrator.

 

Position qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, business administration, community development, urban planning, or related field.  Master’s degree desirable.  Minimum five years progressively responsible experience in public administration and supervision.  This is a full-time, exempt position.  Hiring salary range is $132,549 to $145,000/year based on education and experience, plus excellent comprehensive benefits.
