General Description
Under the direction of the County Administrator, the Assistant County Administrator will be
responsible for performing complex professional, administrative, and managerial work to support
the mission of the Board of Commissioners, Kitsap County offices, and departments. This position
supports short- and long-term planning by setting goals and priorities within established policy
directives set by the County Administrator and Board, and handles interdepartmental
collaboration, technical analysis and administrative tasks across the county.

Our Ideal candidate has:
• Bachelor’s degree in a public administration, political science, business administration
from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of
Education, and
• Eight years required, ten years desired of progressive experience in local or state
government or applicable private or non-profit sectors, including three years of experience
providing supervisory, leadership, project management and/or management of a diverse
work group.
• Experience with strategic planning and development or local government operations is
required.
• Previous experience as professional policy staff for elected officials is desired.
• Relevant work experience demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities may
substitute for educational requirements. Work experience is essential and cannot be
replaced by additional education.
