THE POSITION
The City of McCall is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-focused professional to serve as its next City Manager.
Located approximately 100 miles north of Boise, McCall is a year-round mountain resort community situated on the southern shore of Payette Lake. The City has approximately 4,133 year-round residents, with the population increasing significantly during peak tourism seasons, holidays, and special events. Residents value McCall’s small-town character, natural environment, and active lifestyle.
McCall operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by and accountable to a five-member City Council and oversees the day-to-day administration of a full-service municipal organization with an adopted FY2027 all-funds budget of approximately $78.8 million.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The next City Manager will join an organization with a strong and experienced team of Department Heads who are accustomed to participating fully in planning and decision-making. The Manager will be expected to foster a collaborative and respectful workplace, maintain a close and trusting relationship with the City Council, and be visible and accessible within the community.
McCall is seeking a leader who is approachable, genuine, politically astute, and an exceptional communicator. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, accountability, strategic thinking, and a willingness to support innovation and creative problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Candidates must have at least ten years of municipal government experience, including one or more of the following:
One year as a City Manager
Three years as an Assistant or Deputy City Manager
Five years as a Department Head or equivalent position with supervisory experience
or
An equivalent combination of the above experience
Residency within the City of McCall is required within 12 months of the start date.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range is $148,285 to $203,461, with a midpoint of $172,424. Appointment within the range will depend on qualifications and experience.
