Montrose County, located on Colorado’s beautiful Western Slope, is seeking an experienced and
collaborative County Manager to lead a dynamic, forward-moving organization. Home to the Black
Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the thriving City of Montrose, the agricultural community of
Olathe, and the scenic West End communities of Nucla, Naturita, Paradox, and Redvale, Montrose

The County Manager serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and provides executive leadership,
organizational oversight, strategic direction, and fiscal stewardship for all departments under the Board
of County Commissioners (BOCC). The Manager ensures effective implementation of BOCC policies,
oversees daily operations, directs long-range planning, supports department directors, manages
intergovernmental relations, responds to public concerns, and ensures adherence to statutory
responsibilities. The position is highly visible, relationship-focused, and essential to the County’s
continued growth and operational excellence.
Minimum qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Public or Business Administration, Management, or a
related field
• At least five (5) years of progressive senior leadership experience in a comparable organization
• Strong knowledge of public administration, budgeting, Colorado statutes, land use processes, and
organizational leadership
• Ability to communicate effectively, build strong internal and external relationships, and lead with
professionalism and integrity
• Must reside in Montrose County and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license
Compensation & Benefits:
• Annual salary: $173,589 – $204,223 (DOE)
